Household Cleaning Tip

Next time you are cleaning your bathroom, drop two Alka-Seltzer tablets into the toilet and let the bubbles go to work for 30 minutes, then brush clean. In addition, pouring 2 cups of vinegar into the bowl and letting it sit overnight will eliminate toilet rings. For best results do this once or twice a month. —Gisele Scanlon, “The Goddess Guide,” Harper Collins Publishers, © 2006

Household Cleaning Tip

Make scented baking soda by adding 3–5 drops of essential oils to 2 cups of baking soda. Mix well and let it air dry, then sprinkle on your carpet as both a cleaner and odor buster. Let it sit for 15 minutes and vacuum clean. —Gisele Scanlon, “The Goddess Guide,” Harper Collins Publishers, © 2006

Household Cleaning Tip

To remove yellow underarm stains, try soaking your garment in warm water with liquid peroxide (suitable for white T-shirts and shirts), then wash in the hottest wash allowed on the garment’s label. If the stain is still there after the wash, dampen it and sprinkle with meat tenderizer. Let it stand for about an hour and then wash it again. —Gisele Scanlon, “The Goddess Guide,” Harper Collins Publishers, © 2006
